BeaconEDU Privacy Policy
BeaconEDU provides school-safety, emergency-coordination, accountability, reunification, visitor-screening, and communication services to participating schools and school districts. Information is processed to operate those services, protect users and school communities, deliver requested communications, maintain security, and satisfy applicable legal and contractual obligations.
Information processed
Depending on the services used, BeaconEDU may process contact information, school/district affiliations, student and guardian information provided by participating schools, account and device information, operational emergency records, communication records, and information submitted through BeaconEDU forms.
Mobile information and SMS consent
Mobile telephone numbers, SMS opt-in information, and SMS consent records are used to provide the school communications authorized by the parent or guardian. Mobile information, text messaging originator opt-in data, and SMS consent will not be sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
BeaconEDU may provide information to telecommunications carriers and service providers only as necessary to deliver the communications requested by the participating school/district and recipient, operate the service, prevent abuse, maintain security, and comply with law. These service providers may not use SMS consent data for their own marketing or promotional purposes.
Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Recipients may reply STOP to opt out or HELP for assistance.
SMS consent records
BeaconEDU may retain the mobile number, consent timestamp, consent source, applicable consent-language version, and technical information associated with the consent transaction so the platform can document when and how consent was provided.
School-provided contact information
A telephone number supplied or imported by a school or district is not, by itself, treated as consent to receive BeaconEDU SMS messages. SMS enrollment requires an affirmative opt-in through the approved BeaconEDU consent process.
Security and retention
BeaconEDU uses administrative, technical, and operational safeguards appropriate to the services provided. Information is retained according to operational, contractual, safety, and legal requirements and is removed or de-identified when it is no longer required.
